Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef

www.writetraveller.com/snorkeling-great-barrierDominic Godwinson – I had never been snorkelling before on the Great Barrier Reef, but when I booked an adventure trip to Australia a few months ago, I knew that I had to make this a part of my time there in order to make the most of my break from work. I did not exactly know what to expect since this was going to be a new experience for me so I got a travel insurance kuwait bank swift lookup cover fromĀ  Travel Insurance Cover and as much information on what I was getting into as I could. Fortunately, though, the trip was everything I had hoped it would be. Over my 7 days at the adventure resort in Cairns, I was able to do the three things I came to do without worry: snorkel, eat, and sleep. I had a grand time, and I’d like to share some of th Lookup swift codes United Kingdom banks e details with you.

One of the areas where I and the others in my cohort were very lucky was in the area of weather.

This is one thing your guide can’t control; if it’s good outside, it’s good, and if it’s rainy all week, then that’s just the way the chips fall. However, things were sunny and calm for several days, which made the process good. Now if you’ve never been snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, what typically happens is you sign up for a company that takes you out there on a boat with a small group of people.

It takes a few days to get to where the best spots are, which is why the weather plays such a factor in it.

Similarly, you want to go in a smaller group if you can, since there will be more bits of equipment to go around and you can get more individualised attention from the guides. On the other hand, a larger boat is less affected by the chop and the gusts of the wind, so it’s a balance, as is everything in life.

In my situation, however, the weather was dandy, the people were friendly, and I got to get out into the water without getting sea sick, which was grand. Seasickness is something some of the other travellers had to worry about, but I was fortunate in that regard.

There are some boats that come with stabilisers, which help the boats keep from wallowing in heavy waves. When I got to the area where we could snorkel, the boat backed up to some straight walls of reef below the surface of the water. The reefs started at around 2 meters below the surface. Thanks to the hydraulic dive platforms, it was pretty easy to get into the water.

There were also divers there, but I don’t think they were able to get to see nearly as much as we were when we snorkelled. This is because the divers went really deep where the water was much darker, while the water is more permeable to light at the surface depths. I was glad to see, however, that the company that took us out on the water did not give priority to either the snorkellers or the divers; this meant that everyone got an equal chance to get into the water. And the reefs were amazing! There were so many colours and fish under water. Overall, I would swift usa citibank recommend going snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef if you get the chance. I’m still sharing pictures with friends months later.
